What is a SaaS?

SaaS is a software delivery method that allows data to be accessed from any device with an internet connection and a web browser. In this web-based model, software vendors host and maintain the servers, databases, and code that makes up an application.

Software as a service (SaaS) is a software distribution model in which a cloud provider hosts applications and makes them available to end-users over the internet. In this model, an independent software vendor may contract a third-party cloud provider to host the application. Or, with larger companies, the cloud provider might also be the software vendor.

SaaS is one of the main categories of cloud computing. A range of IT professionals, business users, and personal users use SaaS applications.

  • Automated Solution
  • One-time Sign-in
  • Security & Privacy
  • Flexible infrastructure
  • Customized Software

Let’s take a detailed look at some accessibility features of SaaS.

1. Automated Solution

The users should access the SaaS applications on the go, which means provisioning the users with the services that need to be automated. B2B/B2C customers typically use SaaS applications, and this requirement demands creating companies/users just by invoking web services and providing the access credentials. Cloud Service platforms can automate this procedure to provide access to SaaS applications on-demand basis.

Another important characteristic is the de-provisioning ability, i.e. revoke the access from the user/organizations whenever the customer decides not to use the software as a Service application.

2. One-time Sign-in

An organization would want to have a single identity system in place to authenticate the various systems which are going to be consumed by users. Also, organizations need to have a single page to provide login credentials and access all software as a Service application. So, software as a Service applications should be easily integrated. So it becomes important to enable Single Sign-in for SaaS applications to authenticate against existing identity systems and provide an experience of logging in once and using the various systems.

Typically, software as a Service application uses various kinds of activities to enable this critical piece. Also, another important factor is that the SaaS applications are multi-level; each level would want to authenticate against their own identity & access management system.

3. Security & Privacy

In software as a service, the risks of cybersecurity are different from those associated with traditional software. With traditional software, the vendor is responsible for eliminating code-based vulnerabilities, while the user is responsible for running the software on a secure infrastructure and network. As a result, security is more the responsibility of the independent software vendor and third-party cloud provider.

Despite the rapid execution of cloud-based models for fully serviced software products, organizations still have certain reservations about SaaS products regarding security and privacy.

4. Flexible Infrastructure

SaaS application usage is generally not predictable. It can vary in some months. The infrastructure on the applications deployed should have the ability to expand or shrink the resources used behind the show. These days, SaaS applications are designed in such a way that it identifies the behavior of the infrastructure. Monitoring agents reside within the deployment resources and intimate the respective management servers about the accessibility of the resources.

Typically, policies and procedures are built as part of the core architecture to expand or shrink the infrastructure resources. Microarchitecture-based SaaS applications are classic examples. Another way is to build a policy engine to receive and react to an event.

5. Customized Software

Today’s web-based software is flexible enough to be modified for specific business uses and individual users. For example, buyers can customize the UI to change the look and feel of the program and modify specific areas, such as data fields, to alter what data appears. Several business process features can also be turned off and on when needed.

SaaS systems can be customized from top to bottom for each client, and it offers far more flexibility for the average company.

So, how impressive SaaS accessibility features are? And would you recommend others to use SaaS products?

absolutely_yes

The bottom line!

So, do SaaS accessibility features are promising? Looking at the points mentioned above seems like it is promising. SaaS is a category of cloud computing services that many organizations are into these days.
