What is Refactoring in Agile?

Code refactoring or Refactoring is a method for improving existing computer code without introducing new functionality or changing the program’s exterior behavior. Its goal is to change the implementation, definition, and structure of code without affecting the software’s functionality. It enhances software’s extensibility, maintainability, and readability without altering its functionality.

Improved code readability and reduced complexity are two potential benefits of restructuring; these can enhance source code maintainability and provide a simpler, cleaner, or more expressive internal architecture or object model to promote extensibility. Improved performance is another possible aim for refactoring; software engineers are constantly challenged to write programs that run faster and use less memory.
