Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

What is a Key Performance Indicator (KPI)?

Key performance indicators are the points that showcase the progress of an employee towards an expected outcome at hand. KPIs provide a focus for strategic and operational improvements made to the project. They help you create an analytical basis for decision-making and help to focus attention on the essentials. Management with the use of KPIs involves setting goals and tracking the progress of the same.

Managing with KPI is often explained as a way of working on improving the leading metrics of the employee. It will later lead to backward profits and growth of the company. Leading indicators or the KPIs are harbingers of future success. However, the trailing indicators show the organization’s success in achieving results in the past and how to take them into consideration for the future.
