What is Bereavement Leave?

The definition of bereavement leave is when an employee who wishes to take leave due to the death of a close family member. The employee should notify their manager at the earliest. If an employee leaves work prematurely on the day the death was reported, he or she cannot use the available leaves. With the approval of his supervisor, for additional approved time can be availed by the employee.

The funeral fee is calculated based on the basic wage rate at the time of absence. It does not include any special payments such as incentives, commissions, bonuses, overtime, or shift supplements added to the fixed pay.
