What is a Megaproject?

Megaprojects, sometimes known as “major programs,” are large-scale, complex initiatives that often cost more than one billion dollars, take several years to complete, include multiple public and private partners, are transformational, and have an impact on millions of people. In terms of objectives, lead times, complexity, and stakeholder involvement, they represent an entirely different breed of project. As a result, they necessitate a unique and diverse style of manager.
