Lean Manufacturing

What is Lean Manufacturing?

Lean manufacturing is defined as the optimal way of producing goods. The process is taken into consideration through the removal of waste and implementing flow, as opposed to batch processing.

Lean manufacturing is a process focused on getting the right things, to the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity to achieve the right workflow. And all of this while minimizing waste and being flexible and able to change.

All these concepts of lean manufacturing have to be understood, appreciated and embraced by the workers. As these are the individuals who build the products and own the processes that deliver the value. The cultural and managerial aspects of understanding a workplace are just as important. Moreover, the actual tools or methodologies of production itself have to be considered. Lean manufacturing tries to make the work simple enough to understand, to do, and manage.
